After the birth of my first kiddo, I really struggled with postpartum depression. For my husband and I, it made the most sense financially for me to stay at home to avoid daycare costs. It was nice for a while, but my independent side really missed having a career. I fell into a pretty serious state of depression when day after day, I woke up and did the same thing. I wasn’t working, and for me that was important to contribute to. I needed social interaction. I needed to feel like I had a purpose, something tangible that I could set and meet goals with. I loved being “mommy” but also missed being “Kayla”. I lost my sense of individualism. So I set out on a journey to find a hobby I really loved. I found a list of “100 hobbies to try before you die” and picked a few. Crocheting. Cross stitching. Painting. Yodeling. (Yes I tried it, don’t judge me😂) Some of these things were fun, some absolutely not, but nothing seemed like a good fit for me. I gave the list one more try: soap making. I ordered a kit from a reputable soap ingredient supplier and started. And MAN was I hooked. I quickly purchased every book and recipe I could get my hands on, I couldn’t learn fast enough!
After a while, I didn’t want to just make soap. I wanted to formulate a recipe that was luxurious, affordable, and free of sulfates and parabens.

Fast forward 4 years later and I’ve done just that! I’m so excited to be where I am now. I’ve learned SO much. I’m happy. I wake up everyday with goals and (most days) feel like I smash them. And that makes me a better mom and wife, being happy. I turned what I love into a business and I’m so blessed I get to share my creations with you!
